(Bh)xII™ is a platform to chronicle media that I discover (usually very late) and like. I also have a few unrelated crafts/toys of my own tucked away in the back. This project was initiated to help me meditate on my own preferences; however, I tried to transform it into something fun that a passerby could browse for a “fix”.

Bad, that he uses tumblr… But besides that a nice website concept, featuring the not so popular horizontal scrolling method, hot typography and experimental color combinations. Have a look.

Perfect: Power Pirate

02 — In Mind by powerpirate

Power Pirate is DC’s youngest electronic rock band, and they’re making headlines for their unique sound, DIY philosophy, and technical skill. The trio fuses 80s-style synths with hard rock drums and guitar to create a refreshing electronic rock style. In early 2010, the group flew to California to compete in a nationwide teen music competition, from which they took home best guitarist, best keyboardist, 3rd place national ranking, a B.C. Rich endorsement, and an interview on NBC. Power Pirate then released their debut album, Plane Ticket, and promoted it at shows in DC, Maryland, Virginia, and New York. The Washington Post hails the album as “polished beyond their years.”

And, wow, that description really is completely right. Hopefully just already started listening to the embedded track, which is my current favorite of their debut album Plane Ticket (iTunes link), which was released on March 18, 2010. It is a funky, rocking mixtures of electronica, beat, rock and a minimal dose of melancholic orchestral pop. Their music features fast keyboard interludes, solid vocals and lickin’ guitar solos. Which is a damn high-leveled style for 16-year-olds. Keep an eye on them.

Predicting the future is sometimes funny, sometimes serious.

View of 2011 from 1931 (Abnormal Use) ➟

This one is very interesting. Just try to formulate fitting predictions for the next decades and you will see what job these people had to do by giving answers like

The population of the United States eighty years hence will be 160,000,000 and either stationary or declining, and will have a larger percentage of old people than there is today. Technological progress, with its exponential law of increase, holds the key to the future. Labor displacement will proceed even to automatic factories. The magic of remote control will be commonplace. [— William F. Ogborn]

Completely Nonsense. But cool Nonsense.

The Nonsense Society — Art, Music, Culture… ➟

I like this one

On the morning of November 20, 2009 I woke up and rolled over to check my email. Hate mail. Wait a sec, hate mail?! I don’t get hate mail…
Suddenly I felt extremely discouraged. I spent the rest of the day considering destroying the Nonsense Society, bleaching my hair, leaving the country, and becoming a Mexican poncho maker (Is that racist?). It was the worst I had felt in a long long time. A couple hours later I took a look at my Analytics…

And this one:

I find film music especially inspiring because (with film) the final result combines visual art, word (both written plot and spoken), and music. It’s a clash of creativity (and we all know how much I like that). Film & television blow me away. I’d like to share some of my favorite compositions from soundtracks with you here.
